The canyon is just otherworldly. The pictures don’t do it justice. People mention kaleidoscope-like colors...but you can't see where they end and begin. That's how fluid and diverse and beautiful the colors and light patterns are! The only thing I was a little put off by was the travel time, but in the end I just slept through the entire thing. The bus was so comfortable! And it had wi-fi so I listened to music the entire time. Was nice they picked us up at our hotel too. Highly recommend!
I felt very honored to be led through the canyon by a Navajo guide, considering it is their ancestral land. Was a great learning experience. Olivia taught us a lot about her people’s history and traditions. Plus the history of Antelope Canyon obviously. She also made everyone feel welcome. I didn’t want to ask any insensitive questions, but she made a completely relaxed atmosphere. Her organization with the bus driver was also good. As soon as we got off, she was waiting for us! When it came to the hike itself, it was absolutely beautiful! I’d go again.

VIEW THE BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE AS YOU DRIVE
The Antelope Canyon Tour from Las Vegas starts with a scenic drive. You’ll see the Virgin River Gorge, a sweeping canyon carved by the Virgin River. You’ll also spot dramatic rock formations. These belong to the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument. This landscape makes the drive go by quickly!
EXPLORE ANTELOPE CANYON
Get off the bus, and begin your walking tour at Antelope Canyon! A native Navajo guide will lead you through the sloping sandstone walls. The canyon’s walls will seem almost fluid with their elegant curves. This is due to rainwater rushing through the canyon, smoothing away the hard edges. As you walk, you’ll see walls in a myriad of beautiful colors: red, orange, yellow, but also purple and blue! This happens because of the direct sunlight beaming down into the gorge. As your guide will explain, the most vibrant colors are during the summer, because of the sun’s high position.
LEARN ALL ABOUT THE CANYON
While you walk, your Navajo guide will explain the landscape’s significance. The most accessible sections are Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon. In Navajo, the first is named “Tsé bighánílíní” or 'the place where water runs through the (Slot Canyon) rocks’. It makes sense, as that’s how the canyon got its distinctive smooth look!
OVERLOOK THE HORSESHOE BEND
Your final stop is Horseshoe Bend. Leave the bus for a short hike, and you’ll come out on top of a steep cliff. From here you’ll have panoramic views of Horseshoe Bend - a huge horseshoe-shaped gorge. You’ll be 1,000 feet (300 m) above it! The gorge is carved out thanks to the Colorado River and is an incised meander. Or, as your guide will explain: a river that has cut its bed down into the bedrock. This happened when the region uplifted 5 million years ago, probably because of delamination. This is when the lowest layer of a tectonic plate sank into the underlying mantle. Then hotter rock rose and caused the uplift.
TRAVEL BACK TO LAS VEGAS
